- Two armies of Germany (GER) and Ukraine (UKR) fight for win.
- The goal of GER is to take over UKR territory and Nuke area (nuclear base). GER can advance to Nuke by seizing the areas in between.
- The goal of UKR is to take over GER territory and the city of Berlin. UKR can reach Berlin by seizing the areas in between.
- Both armies alternates in choosing the map which will be played (which will the choosing army “attack”). GER will choose first. It is possible to only choose the map which belongs to common border and which is adjacent to already controlled map (ie. it can be attacked only from controlled territory). The map is controlled by the army if it has lead (in score) on this map. The attacked map can be controlled by opponent or neutral. All possible maps for attack are indicated by blue arrows on LWTB4 map. There is one exception to this rule: If one side cannot choose map for attack on common border, it can manage airborne assault “behind enemy lines”. GER can use this attack at “Battle of Sambir”, UKR can use this attack at “Rolling Thunder”.
- The campaign ends when both armies have no place to attack. If one army can still attack, it continues in attacking (and choosing maps), until either the other can attack as well or both cannot attack.
- The winner of LWTB4 is the army which collects more points when the campaign ends. The points are collected for each controlled map:
- 5 points for Berlin – this map is played only once!
- 3 points for Nuke – this map is played only once!
- 1 point for all remaining maps – this maps can be played twice (depending on circumstances).
- One map for two wins is played on each playing day (i.e. on Wednesday and Sunday). This means two rounds at least will be played at each day – this is called “game”. The game can thus result in 2:0 or 2:1 respectively. The army which won the game increases its score on the map (as described above).
- Each round is limited to 40 minutes. Who has more tickets at the end of the round is the winner of the round (on normal maps). On Nuke, GER must disarm nuclear missiles in 40 minutes. If they succeed, GER wins, otherwise UKR wins.
- Each map (except Berlin and Nuke) has already one virtual battle recorded (won by army which controls the territory at the start of the campaign). GER leads 1:0 on GER territory and UKR leads 1:0 on UKR territory.
- The possible situation development:
- Initial GER territory: The initial score is 1:0 for GER and GER wins the first game, changes the score to 2:0 for GER. This map now belongs to GER until the end of campaign and UKR cannot attack there.
- Initial GER territory: The initial score is 1:0 for GER and UKR wins the first game, changes the score to 1:1. This makes the map neutral. It is not possible to attack from this territory, but it is possible for both armies to attack this territory.
- Initial UKR territory: The initial score is 1:0 for UKR and UKR wins the first game, changes the score to 2:0 for UKR. This map now belongs to UKR until the end of campaign and GER cannot attack there.
- Initial UKR territory: The initial score is 1:0 for UKR and GER wins the first game, changes the score to 1:1. This makes the map neutral. It is not possible to attack from this territory, but it is possible for both armies to attack this territory.
- Neutral map (indicated by white color on LWTB4 map) with actual score 1:1. The next game is won by UKR, the final score is 2:1 for UKR and GER cannot attack this map. This map belongs to UKR until the end of campaign.
- Neutral map (indicated by white color on LWTB4 map) with actual score 1:1. The next game is won by GER, the final score is 2:1 for GER and UKR cannot attack this map. This map belongs to GER until the end of campaign.
- Two games at maximum can thus be played on each map.
- The map, which the army plans to attack, must be announced 24 hours before the attack. If the announcement misses the deadline, the opposing army is choosing the map for the attack on behalf of the attacking army. In that case the chosen map can be announced anytime before the attack. Map and time for attack will be posted on public section of LWTB4 forum and will be indicated on LWTB4 map.
- Each army chooses three generals, which will communicate with opponent army. All generals from both armies together will form “LWTB4 joint command” which will decide disputes.
