KTM Releases Your New Favorite Motorcycle, the 790 Adventure and Adventure R

No two motorcyclists are alike. They’re a diverse bunch of street bikers, cruisers, off-road kings, daredevils, and general lunatics taking their lives in their hands every time they hop onto their two-wheeled mode of transportation. Yet, for those that have been riding for decades, that would rather take their motorcycle across the country than an airplane, if you asked those motorcyclists what their perfect motorcycle would be, it would likely line up with what KTM has cooked up with the 790 Adventure and Adventure R.

KTM’s 790 Adventure and Adventure R have been built to be the top dogs of the middle-weight adventure motorcycle category. The relatively lightweight motorcycle, coming in at 416 pounds, uses the same 799cc parallel-twin engine from the 790 Duke and makes a healthy 95 horsepower. Tapped with a 5.2-gallon fuel tank, this is a motorcycle that’s been designed to go anywhere you’d like and get you back home without a problem. Illustrating that fact further is the KTM’s suspension which, like the rest of the motorcycle, is ready for anything.

According to KTM, the standard 790 Adventure comes with 43mm Apex WP suspension and offers riders 7.9-inches of suspension travel at both front and rear. For the more hardcore off-roader that chooses the 790 Adventure R, KTM has bequeathed the motorcycle with 48mm Apex WP suspension components that ups the travel to a whopping 9.4-inches. The Adventure R also gets knobbier tires, beefed up fairings, a smaller windscreen for better off-road visibility, and a better brush guard.

Both motorcycles also come with KTM’s standard suite of electronics, which features four unique riding modes, as well as ABS and selectable traction control settings. Furthermore, each motorcycle can be had with a heated seat and grips, cruise control, and a quickshifter. And while the Adventure R is much more geared toward the avid off-roader, the standard 790 Adventure looks like it can handle its own on dirt, gravel, sand, or mud with aplomb.

Now here’s the best part. KTM isn’t going to price these on-paper-perfect motorcycles into the stratosphere and out of enthusiast’s hands. According to Motorcyclist’s insides sources, the standard KTM 790 Adventure will come in at $12,499, while for $1,000 more, you’ll be able to get into all sort of off-road hijinks with the KTM 790 Adventure R. That’s a few thousand less than the absolutely fabulous Honda Africa Twin and the Triumph Tiger 800.

BMW may be known for its upscale sports cars, but the German brand’s motorcycle division is celebrating its 100th birthday in 2023. The company has released two rad bikes to commemorate 100 years of motorcycles from BMW Motorrad. The 2023 BMW R nineT 100 Years and R 18 100 Years Editions (no one said the bikes would have easy names) celebrate BMW Motorrad’s centenary with designs that make them look like they’re from a different era.
For BMW Motorrad fans, the new limited-edition nineT 100 Years and R 18 100 Years Editions resemble bikes from the brand’s early days. The most noticeable design elements on the motorcycles include a black-and-white paint scheme with white double-pinstriping. The motorcycles also utilize a liberal amount of chrome as a nod to motorcycles of the past, which came with loads of the shiny stuff. The special motorcycles feature paint on some of the chrome components thanks to a process called “paint on chrome” that was very popular five decades ago. While the process was straightforward back then, it’s far more complicated now because of the use of REACH compliant Chromium III. It may have been difficult to pull off, but the look of the black and gray metal tank is sublime.

Its base configuration is a bit limousine-like, with an L-shaped bench in the rear of the vehicle and two seats up front. There’s an optional table in the back, and the front passenger seat can swivel around to face those sitting in the back. The CRU’s rear seating compartment is only open on one side – the right curb-facing side – for a few unique reasons.
