Upgrade Your Fitness Gear with Mr Porter Sport

We don’t normally play favorites when it comes to online retailers, but if there’s one site we can always count on for good taste and superior quality brands, it’s Mr Porter. Now guys worried about their wardrobe style for the gym, field and track too can breathe a collective sigh of relief, as today the website just launched Mr Porter Sport.

“We know that sport and fitness are integral to our customers’ interests and day-to-day lives, so beyond offering the best in men’s fashion, we want to offer our global audience the best in men’s sports apparel as well,” explains Toby Bateman, Buying Director, MrPorter.com, adding that brands were selected for both their technical performance abilities and style. Accordingly, the category addresses nine so-called disciplines including running, cycling, tennis, golf, training, outdoor, swimming and sailing, and plans to introduce ski and surf later in the year.

In the meantime, there are 15 new brands to the site worth exploring, including Arc’teryx, APL, Condor, Newton, 2XU, Castelli, Fizik, Brooks England, Boast, RLX, TriggerPoint, Suunto, Oakley, Matuse and Arena. For a glimpse of the more than 150 exciting initial additions to the site, check out fresh tops by Iffley Road and Boast to Peter Millar’s slim-fit range for golfers and TriggerPoint’s GRID STK foam rollers above.

In other company news, on Thursday the retailer appointed Jeremy Langmead, one-time Editor-in-Chief of Mr Porter and more recent Chief Content Officer of Christie’s, to the newly created role of brand and content director, so we expect something of an exciting site refresh in the near future.

This Audemars Piguet watch won the Aiguille d’Or Grand Prix, making it this year’s most impressive watch
Some watches are pretty complex
Audemars Piguet UltraComplication Universelle

Audemars Piguet’s UltraComplication Universelle (or #4) has scooped the top prize at this year’s Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève. The Aiguille d’Or or Golden Needle is awarded to the best watch across all categories. Audemars Piguet, one of the "big three" Swiss watchmakers, has managed to snag the prestigious honor with its “very first ultra-complicated self-winding wristwatch.” The watch itself is a homage to Audemars Piguet’s “legacy of high complications” -- but also aims to make functionality and ergonomics central to its design.

The luxury timepiece contains over 1,100 components clad in an 18-carat pink gold case. Pink gold can also be found on the watch’s hands, hour markers, and AP folding clasp. The strap is made from black rubber-coated calf leather and matches the watch’s counters.
